I have noticed that when my Hornet (2000) is on tick over the headlight dims a little and then when I rev her up, the light brightens considerably. The light seems to take about a volt out of the battery. It is a new battery and charged fully. Is this normal or do you think the alternator is on the blink?
Thanks for your comments

That is perfectly acceptable I think.
Every bike I've had has done that.
It actually shows that your alternator is working correctly if the lights increase when you rev.

I agree with Stitchy. Both of my Hornets '99 and '07 do that. The old one has 53000+ miles on the clock and the new one 7000. Reg/rec replaced on old one plus a few batteries but no other electrical problems. Mickey. Cool

Perfectly normal.

On tickover your headlight will be receiving 13.2 volts but, when you give it some revs, that will increase to 14.4.
