Ace Cafe - Brighton Run.

Just a reminder that the Ace Cafe annual run to Brighton takes place on Sunday 13th September. I will be going along to join in the fun (and maybe a bit of Rock 'n Roll on the Prom Cool ) As I have done for the past SIX years. If anyone wants to go along I will arrange to meet at a point along the way. Kettering, Wellingborough or Newport Pagnell. More details contact me on 07970 189 149. Mickey. Rolling Eyes

Sorry not to have posted times for meeting on the Ace run but here goes. Meet at The Holiday Inn (between Newport Pagnell and M1/Junc 14 ) on A509 at 0845. This means we will arrive at the Ace about 1000 in time for a breakfast (big?) before a 1030 departure to Brighton. See you there!!!

Sue I and Teresa took advantage of Mick's invitation to the run down to Brighton last weekend. We met Mick and Lee at junction 14 and he guided us successfully down the north circular. Having not been to the ACE cafe in 45 years, then on a Francis Barnet, i didnt know what to expect. I was absolutley blown away by the amount and diversity of bikes there, but more importantly by the diversity of the people. Ranging from out and out rockers to 75 year old grannies. The convoy made a magnificent sight leaving at half past 10, all revving up to their limiters and sounding their horns. We left 10 minutes later but there were still masses of people on all the bridges waving at everybody. We all behaved ourselves particularly as we had seen signs saying "Unmarked Police Patrols". We did actually see one group of riders pulled over, apparently for following to close the unmarked Police car. Towards the end of the M23 we had 2 police bikes go past us with the sirens going and obviously wondered what the fuss was all about. We discovered that over 500 hundred bikes had parked on the slip road off the M23, apparently they do this every year and get moved on without much aggro. When we eventually got to Brighton Mick guided us through thousands of parked bikes to get us to the prime promenade position, then spent a great sunny afternoon chatting to a socialable crowd and the knowledgeable personel on the trade stands. Then found a enjoyable road back, the A283 to Farnham then on to Oxford.

Thanks again and hopefully see everybody tonight on the ride-out.
