Airhawk seatStumbled across Airhawk seat covers lately.
This is a dinky, well 14" by 14", mini pump up li lo in a material cover that fits over your seat - attaches by 2 elastic underseat straps.
You need hardly any air in it to get a really comfy ride. Great. A lot less money than buying a comfort / gel / call it whatever seat that has to stay with the bike when you sell it.
You can have plastic - which is what I got - from around £70 up to £140 for neoprene depending on what size you want. Both come with cloth covers and grippy rubber underside.
An unexpected bonus was that the seat puts me up higher over the bars and I've wound up with a riding position I really like. I'd say it adds about 1/2 " to the bike height.
Bye bye to that tatty old bit of sponge then
