Creature comfortsEthel the Beemer, my lovely old K75C, has made it through the winter albeit with quite a collection of new rusty bolt heads here and there. I discovered ACF50 goop a bit late on and even then finished the application by absent mindedly whizzing round the discs with an impregnated rag in a final flourish thus disabling the front brakes. Be careful with this stuff. The manufacturers were super helpful and I got it off but from now on its caution first especially around the wheels. The extended Motobins flip up screen blasts rain drops off my Rainex treated visor, the Oxford muffs and standard heated grips keep the hands toasty and now I've stumbled across yet another goodie. This time its the Motrax Stopwind 3 helmet skirt. This stretchy item fits around the helmet base to reduce noise. The squidgy soft lined rubber like material is supposed to grip onto the hemet. I forgot that my HJC lid is polished with rain repellant stuff so first time out I arrived home with what looked like a toilet seat ring around my neck. Double sided velcro made sure of a fit - and what a result ! You get a magic carpet ride. No more intermittant blasting wind roar, just enough sound to keep you aware you are on the bike as you enjoy the express train ride. No misting problems - the Fog City visor insert had already taken care of those although my glasses are prone to stubbornly and unexpectedly misting over at dead stops - tiredness is dramatically reduced too.
