Hi Sue
Really sorry Stewart and myself are not able to make the holiday due to Stewart loosing his job.
Maybe next time mate but thanks for keeping it open for us see you soon Maria & Stewart x _________________ Maria
Sorry but Debs & I are also going to have to cancel. Work is looking shakier than a very shaky thing & with nothing on the horizon belts will have to be tightened. Have a good time all. _________________ Right! Who fancies a curry?

It would be good to talk over route ideas with anyone else that is going. My bright idea is to go via Dover - Calais around mid day on the Saturday and stop the night on the way, maybe around Rouen.
Formule 1 hotels are dirt cheap at around 39 Euros a night and a room can sleep 2 or 3. The final hop could take in Honfleur and the coast then nip across to Treverien just below St Malo.
I dunno, I'm just googling around on the map.
I have heard that a group is attacking at dawn on the Saturday and wonder if they intend to do the trip all in one go.
Any ideas or better still anybody want to meet up and talk them over would be great. I notice the ferries are dirt cheap if booked now so I am keen to come up with some kind of plan but don't want to race out and book it like Billy No Mates only to find that a much better way of going about things was there all along !
Oh yes, I bought some nice big panniers and top box the other day and a bike came with them so the Bros will either be in a new home or sulking in the garage by the time we go. _________________ Grandad decided being silly is more fun .......
OK, maybe not quite the cheapest, but it's gotta be Portsmouth to St. Malo overnight.
The ferry leaves at 8.30pm, so you can board, get cleaned up, then hit the restaurant and bars without worrying about the drink aspect. Landing is about 8.30am, so a more civilised time than the 6.30am on the other crossings. Breakfast in St. Malo old town, a walk around the ramparts, seafood lunch in Cancale, then head for the accommodation.
Coming home, the St. Malo ferries are daytime only and it's a waste sitting on a ferry all day. Therefore, spend the day riding along the Normandy coast and catch the teatime boat from Caen back to Portsmouth. That'll get you in by about 9.30pm, so home and tucked up in bed by midnight.
Done it loads of times. Fast, fun, and fumble free. _________________ You can fool some of the people all of the time - and they're the ones to focus on!

Wouldn't you know it but when I mentioned going Portsmouth - St Malo people went Pah ! to that , I like this itinerary especially the reference to food.
Anybody else got a route plan ?
